Sankt Andreasberg (14.29 miles / 23 km)
This is the highest city in the Harz at 600 metres and a health resort in the Harz National Park. It offers many opportunities for walkers and daredevils. The Matthias-Schmidt-Berg (663 m) offers a paradise for mountain bikers. With your mountain bike you go up with the chairlift and then whiz down. There is also a summer toboggan run for those who would like to take it a bit easier.
The silver mine “Grube Samson” is the oldest mine in the Harz. This mine has a depth of 880 metres and a water wheel of no less than 12 m in diameter.
