What is there to see and do?
Zorge is a small, cosy village with a bakery, kiosk, hairdresser, ATM (cash dispenser) at the Volksbank and a church. There are also several catering establishments, where you can sit and have something to eat or drink.
Information about walks, cycling routes and excursions are available in the hall of our house. Zorge also has a Kurhaus, where the tourist information centre and a museum are located.
Our village is part of the Walkenried municipality, known for its beautiful Zisterzienser monastery museum.
Hiking possibilities are plentiful with no less than 6 stamping boxes (place where you can put a stamp in your walking booklet of the Harzer Wandernadel). The long distance route “Harzer Baudenstieg” of almost 100 km runs through Zorge and passes pretty forest and mountain cafes (Bauden).
For the whiskey connoisseurs among you, one of the oldest whiskey distilleries in Germany and one of the best in the world called "Hercynian Distilling Co / Hammerschmiede" in Zorge, is worth a visit. You can take a tour, taste whiskey or wine and make your choice in the shop to enjoy these delicious drinks at home.
A stone's throw from our house is a large outdoor swimming pool (Waldschwimmbad Kunzental) with a 164-foot (50 meter) pool, a children's pool and 1.11 acre (4500 m2) of sunbathing areas, which are open during the summer months June, July and August.
