Dams and reservoirs

Due to the many height differences and mountain streams, many reservoirs have been created and constructed in the Harz, especially for the former silver mining industry. Between the green forests, these large lakes are impressive to see and they provide a large part of Germany with drinking water. The largest reservoir is the “Rappbodetalsperre” in the Oberharz am Brocken. This one is an magnificent sight, especially if you dare to walk over the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world or fly, free as a bird underneath the bridge by using the zip line.
